Obituary

Charles B. Ray was welcomed into his eternal home on May 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday May 6, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church in Friona with Pastor D Jay Lewis, officiating.  Burial following in the Friona Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Charles was born in Farmersville, Texas, to John L. and Nellie Ray and was a devoted brother to his late siblings, Connie Ray and Evelyn McDowell. From a young age, Charles possessed an insatiable appetite for hard work and a steadfast devotion to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He graduated from Friona High School in 1962. He went on to attend the University of West Texas and Tarleton State University, all while serving with honor in the Army Reserves.

In 1966, Charles married the love of his life, Rose Ann Greeson, beginning a nearly 60-year journey of unwavering love and partnership. The couple moved to their current home in 1970, where Charles faithfully farmed his land for decades. Together, Charles and Rose Ann raised three children — Brandy McNutt, Chesley Ray, and Canna Ray — instilling in them the same values of faith, humility, and service that defined his life.

A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Friona, Texas, Charles served selflessly as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life — he lived to serve others and share the love of Christ through his actions.

Charles will be remembered for his quick wit, contagious sense of humor, and his deep compassion for others. His kindness and humility fostered countless lifelong friendships. When he wasn't tending his fields and cattle, Charles could often be found building unique projects, lending a helping hand to neighbors, or spending cherished time with his beloved grandchildren.

Charles was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Coby, Rayley, Brooklyn, Cayla, Breanna, Garrett, Chesten and late great-granddaughter, Everleigh. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on through them and all who were blessed to know him.

Charles B. Ray's life was a testament to faith, family, and service — a humble man whose heart reflected the goodness of God.

Charles survived by his beloved wife, Rose Ann Ray, alongside Brandy and Ray McNutt, Chesley Ray, Canna and Jeff Ray, Coby Ray, Rayley McNutt, Brooklyn O'Bannon, Cayla Ray, Breanna Ray, Garrett McNutt, and Chesten Ray, alongside many hearts who deeply cherished him.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
