David "Dean" Wines, 70, of Bovina passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Farwell. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Bovina at 11:00 AM with Rev. Brian Mullins officiating, burial will follow at Bovina Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona. Dean was born December 26, 1941 in El Reno, Oklahoma to David Wesley and Opal Iona Blalock Wines. Dean moved to Bovina from Dalhart in 1946. He worked at Bovina Wheat Growers from 1958-1965, he then joined the National Guard from 1965-1969. He then worked for Parmer County Feed Yard from 1967-1972. His last place of employment was Cargill Meat Solutions, where he began as a boiler room operator and retired in the refrigeration maintenance department, where he worked from 1973-2003 when he retired. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bovina. He loved the mountains and fishing, but most of all he loved his family and grandkids. He is survived by his two daughters, Sharla Cruz of Bovina and Stephanie Marshall of Clovis, New Mexico. Five grandchildren; Destiny Cruz of Bovina, Joseph Cruz of Canyon, D'Laney Cruz of Bovina, Sean Lindley of Clovis and Chancellor Marshall of Clovis. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronnie Dale Wines. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
