Dean McCallum, 91 of Bovina passed away January 12, 2021 in Bovina. Viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Private Family Only Graveside Services scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview with Rev. Larry Mitchell, officiating. Burial following by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Dean was born November 25, 1929 in Childress, Texas to Cletus Fariel and Ruth Hullum McCallum. He later married Arlene Turner October 9, 1953 in Clovis.
Dean is a former insurance and real estate agent, financial planner and farmer and rancher. He was very active in the Bovina community. He is a past member of the Bovina Independent School District Board of Directors, Soil Conservation District, Bovina Lions Club, Bovina Jaycees. He was instrumental in building the Bovina baseball field, was a charter member of the Bovina Chamber of Commerce, and was awarded the Bovina Chamber Heritage Award in 2015.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 1 granddaughter Kelli Mitchell.

Those to carry on his legacy includes his wife Arlene of Bovina, 2 sons-Mike McCallum, and Larry Mitchell and wife Donna, all of Bovina, 1 daughter-Nancy Cruz and husband Cass of La Veta, Colorado, 5 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
