Obituary

Dianne Gayarre Tannahill , 77, of Canyon passed away on Saturday April 8, 2023 at her home in Canyon Texas with family at her side. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Union Congregational Church of Friona with Jeff Procter officiating. Dianne, or Gaye as she was known by many, was born October 5, 1945 in Greenwood Mississippi to E.T. and Virginia Jennings.  She moved with her parents to Friona at the age of 1 year old.  She graduated from Friona High School in 1964.

In 1985, she returned to West Texas State University where she got her BA and took her first job as a teacher at Tierra Blanca Primary school in Hereford Texas.   She continued to touch the lives of children as she taught K-3rd grade gifted and talented children.   This job was not a job for her.  It was a passion.   That passion was evident through the dedication that she had for enriching the lives of children and encouraging curiosity and creativity.   She had a talent for using art to convey lessons and create an excitement for learning.   Her impact on children throughout her life is far reaching. Her mark will be left through the young lives she touched along her path as an educator.

In 1991, she moved to Canyon with Larry Morgan where she continued to enjoy experiencing interesting places and activities.  She and Larry enjoyed traveling to Colorado, Iowa, New Mexico, and Nevada where she enjoyed historical markers, national forests, and of course little shops along the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents ET and Virginia Jennings.   Those to carry on her legacy include her daughter Lory Anne Tannahill of Wylie Texas, her son John Mark Tannahill of Dallas Texas, and her love, Larry Morgan of Canyon.   She is survived by her younger sisters Teto Milner and Dale Milner of Friona and Jo Anne Danner and J.D Danner of Amarillo, and baby brother Rick Jennings and late Linda Kay Carson of Lubbock.   She leaves nieces and nephews, Mendi Spinks, Charlie Milner, Chris Hill, and Lindsay Irwin, and 10 great nieces and nephews.   She was loved by the Morgan Family Lisa Hall and Jeff Morgan and 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
