Earl Lester Quintana, 67 of Bovina, Texas passed away on May 19, 2025 in Amarillo, Texas surrounded by his family and friends. Viewing will be held Friday May 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina. At 4:00 PM the church will begin preparing and conducting regular Friday evening Mass. Rosary Services for Earl will begin at 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday May 24, 2025 also at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Sotero Sena as Celebrant. Burial in the Bovina Cemetery following and arrangements entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Earl was born on October 28, 1957, to Petrolino Quintana and Celina Gurule. He married the love of his life, Celia Ortiz on July 13, 1975 in Bovina, Texas. They have three children, Charlotte (Izzy) Marrufo of Bovina, Texas, Joshua (Amanda) Quintana of Lubbock, Texas, and Trent (Stephanie) Quintana of Bovina, Texas. He has nine grandchildren, Andrew (Marielena) Marrufo, J.C. Marrufo, J.J. (Kayla) Marrufo, Jadon (Hope) Quintana, Anay Quintana, Michael Quintana, Lilly Quintana, Braylon Quintana, and Grayson Quintana. He also has four Great Grandchildren, Damian Marrufo, Sofia Marrufo, Adalynn Marrufo and Julianna Marrufo. Last not but not least, his two adopted cats Charlie and Theodore. Earl dedicated 40 ½ years to Cargill Meat Solutions in Friona, Texas, where he was a superintendent, retiring in 2015. He was an active volunteer at the Bovina Fire Department for 21 years, where he served as an assistant chief for the past ten years. In raising his children, he volunteered countless hours for the Youth Baseball and Basketball Leagues, he also had a huge impact implementing the Cargill feed during Mustang football season. Earl had many hobbies that he enjoyed over his lifetime, baseball, softball, golfing, playing pool, snow skiing, water skiing, carpentry, and gambling. Earl was the rock, heart, soul, and foundation of his family. They were always what he was the most proud of. No event to big or small, he was always in the crowd. Earl touched so many people in his lifetime, his love was contagious and had no boundaries. You could be a stranger, employee, co-worker, friend, brother, sister, cousin, nephew, niece, or grandkid; his love was unconditional. Earl would give the shirt off his back, the food off his plate to anyone.
He is predeceased by his parents, brother Raymond Quintana, nephew Wilfred Salas, his father and mother in-law, Ireneo and Altagracia Ortiz, brother-in-law's Andrew Ortiz and Eddie Ortiz, and nephews Michael Ortiz and Thomas Ortiz.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his brother Manuel (Sheryl) Quintana, sister Velma Quintana (Bruce McCoy), sister Ina (Craig) Carey, sister-in law Rebecca Quintana, brother-in-law Noel (Susie) Ortiz, sister-in-law Delia (Ben) Cantu, sister-in-law Carol Ortiz and numerous nephews and nieces.
