Edna Mae
Minyen
Oct 3, 1919 — Dec 25, 2017
Edna Mae Minyen, 98, of Farwell died Monday, December 25, 2017.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 29, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Bovina with Rev. Brian Mullins, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona, Texas.
Edna was born October 3, 1919 in Timbo, Arkansas to Charlie I. Sutterfield and Lillie Maud Clark Sutterfield. She married Ronald E. Minyen on August 17, 1940 in Wayne, Oklahoma.
Edna was a dedicated wife and mother. Having been raised in a Christian home in a rural part of Oklahoma during the depression helped prepare her to meet life's challenges. Moving to Hale Center in her late twenties with Ronald and four young children, not knowing what the future held, she made it all work when times were tough and when times got better. Her faith was strong in her Lord and Savior and through it all God truly directed her paths and she was deeply loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; one son, Oliver Charles "O.C." Minyen; one daughter, Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Jones; two brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Sutterfield; two sisters, Berenice Cheatwood and Hazel Vaughan; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Sutterfield and Geraldine Sutterfield and one brother-in-law, Doffard Cheatwood.
Survivors include one son, Gary Minyen and wife Karen of Canadian; two daughters, Ronny Waardenburg-Jones and husband Harry of Early; Judith Hromas and husband Galen of Bovina; eight grandchildren, Col.(ret.)Jim Pryor and Charlotte of Lake Ridge, Virginia; Reid Minyen & Heidi of Lakeway; Kevin Waardenburg of Brownwood; Courtney King of Early; Kimberly Young and Andy of Tucson, Arizona; Darren Hromas and Stana of College Station; Matthew Hromas & Michelle of Bovina and Lisa Ketchum and Zachary of Lubbock; one brother, Charles Sutterfield and wife, June of Stratford; one sister, Helen McVeigh and husband, Dee of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother-in-law, Byron Vaughan of Dumas and 22 great grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be sent to the Ladies Auxiliary at Farwell Care and Rehab Center, PO Box 890, Farwell, Texas 79325-0890.
