Obituary

Elva "Ann" Kelley, 89, of Friona arrived in Heaven at 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 after a long battle with multiple health issues.  Her chains are now gone and she's been set free - what a glorious homecoming with her Lord and Savior we know it must have been! Family and friends will gather together for a celebration of her life 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Friona with Rev. Brett Hoyle, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Ann was born in Halfway, Texas January 22, 1929.  She was 36 days from her 90 th birthday.  We had planned to have a grand celebration to honor her life but the one she will have now with her Lord and family & friends will be far more special than anything we could have done for her here!  Ann married T.A. Kelley in 1946 in Plainview when she was a senior in high school before he could be sent off to war.  Due to heart damage from rheumatic fever he was not selected for service and they were able to celebrate 66 years of marriage before he passed away in 2012.  Together they raised three daughters - Audry, Randie, and Tammi.

Ann was the oldest of 4 siblings and the matriarch of the family in the truest sense of the word.  She had a fierce and rare love for her family and friends and she kept the generations connected.  She truly cared about and loved every member of her family as well as her many friends and she made sure we all knew what was going on in the lives of the others.  She was the glue that held us together.

Ann was a homemaker who supplemented the family income by making afghans, quilts, and baby quilts.  She quilted for the public for many, many years.  Her heart and hands were filled with love and she often expressed it in her gifts for others.  She made quilts or crocheted items for every member of her family no matter how distantly related as well as for her countless friends.  Her love for others and her legacy will continue for years to come as we are literally wrapped in her love by her creations.  She was the thread that lovingly stitched us all together and kept us hemmed in prayer.

Ann's passion was her family and friends.  She loved for us to all be together and when we were, there was always good food, a lot of laughter, and usually some pretty exciting card games - she almost always won!  She and T. A. spent many evenings playing 42 with their friends in the community.  Ann also loved to read and she enjoyed sharing her books with others.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 55 years.  When her health no longer allowed her to attend, she faithfully watched the service every Sunday on TV.

Ann experienced many health problems for several years but her race is now complete and she ran it well.  She fought the good fight and we know her reward is great.  She will be missed terribly but we know that when we join her one day our reunion will incredible.

Ann is survived by her daughters; Audry Rowell and her husband, Vince, of Canyon, Randie Hamilton and the late Charles Hamilton of Friona, and Tammi Lafuente and her husband, Harvey, of Lubbock as well as her cherished grandchildren; Jason Rowell, Chad Hamilton, Kris Haffner, Cory Hamilton, Addie Velez and their spouses.  Great grandchildren include Shelby and Lindsay Rowell,  Carson and Layton Haffner, Caleb, Sammie, and Charlie Hamilton, and Lynnlie Hamilton.  One brother, Delton Lewellen, and one sister, Tommy Goetz.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 404 West 5 th Friona, Texas  79035 or Prairie Acres Nursing Home 201 East 15 th St. Friona, Texas  79035
