Geraldine Farrar McFarland Taylor, 95, of Friona, TX passed away on April 25, 2012 in Panhandle, TX. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 3:00PM in the First Baptist Church of Friona with Rev. Charles Broadhurst, retired Baptist minister and Rev. Brett Hoyle, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Friona Cemetery under the direction of Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home. Gerry was born January 11, 1917 in Killeen. She graduated from Friona High School and graduated from Texas Tech College in Lubbock. She later attended her 50th class reunion which was then Texas Tech University. After graduation, she was a high school teacher for approximately 3 years. She married George C. Taylor on January 11, 1941. When George returned from serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, they moved to Ft. Worth where they live for approximately 15 years before returning to Friona. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1982. Gerry held numerous offices with Modern Study Club where she entered several MSC sewing competitions, winning blue ribbons for her creations. She volunteered with Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, and worked in the church nursery in her later years. She sang with the choir in the Living Christmas Tree for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Wood and husband Ronnie of Pampa and Lisa Taylor and husband Mark Zagorin of Austin, one sister, Charlene Jones of Albuquerque, New Mexico, five grandchildren, Dana Katharyn Macik and husband Greg of Eagle, Colorado, Mark Taylor Wood and wife Shannon of Austin, Katharyn Zagorin, Caroline Zagorin and Sarah Zagorin, all of Austin, four great-grandchildren, Taylor Elizabeth Macik of Eagle, Colorado, Caleb William Wood, Luke Allen Wood, and Julia Marie Wood all of Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Geraldine was preceded in death by eight siblings.
