Gilberto Torres Sr., 76 of Friona passed away April 16, 2019 in Amarillo. Rosary Services will be held 6:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2019 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial Services 12:00 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2019 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church of Friona with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Gilberto was born February 4, 1943 in Mexico to Agapito and Nieves Navarrete Torres. He later married Modesta Rayos, 1952 in Mexico.

He worked at the Friona cotton gin for many years. He loved his family, bingo, music and dancing. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church.

Gilberto is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

Those to carry on his legacy include:  4 sons- Gilberto Torres Jr. and wife Miroslva, Jesus Torres and wife Veronica and Mario Torres and wife Goretti all of Friona and Alonzo Torres and wife Rosa of Santa Monica, California, 2 daughters- Irma Reyes and husband Francisco Javier of Hereford and Manuela Granillo of Kermit, 1 sister- Alvina Baeza of Odessa, 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
