Obituary

Granny was born April 26, 1910 in Davidson, Oklahoma to John and Maggie Bradley. When she was two years old she and her family moved to Fort Worth area and later moved to Hopkins County, Texas where she lived until she was age 10. Thereafter the family moved to Mena, Arkansas until she was age 13 and later moved to Roosevelt, Oklahoma. She was 18 when she met and married Paul Strickland and to this union there was born three children, Ollie Pearl Taylor, Elwanda Campbell and Eldon Ray Strickland. Mrs. Strickland and her family moved to Parmer County, Texas in 1930 and she continued to live here for the rest of her life. Paul and Opal operated Strickland Truck Stop from 1951 until the 1970's. Mrs. Strickland was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Friona. She lived independently until the last year of her life. She was an amazing example of the enduring spirit that she shared with so many of her generation. Mrs. Strickland was a woman of tremendous faith and her family and friends were blessed by her pure and loving heart. Even in the last hours of her life she continually expressed her "I love you's" to those close to her. She is survived by her two daughters, Ollie Pearl Taylor and Elwanda Campbell both of Friona; a daughter-in-law Lois Strickland of Clovis, New Mexico; two sisters, Rose Redinger of Lavern, Oklahoma and Lucy Mae Stokes of Amarillo. 8 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Maggie Bradley, her husband Paul Strickland, her son, Eldon Ray Strickland; and her two brothers, James Calvin and Aiden Bradley.
