Ila Burchett, 89 of Friona died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Friona. Graveside Services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Friona Cemetery in Friona with Rev. Brett Hoyle, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Friona, officiating, Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Ila was born in Mead, Oklahoma to William Washington and Athol LaDelle Serner Smith. She married Olin D. Burchett January 1948 in Sherman, Texas.

She was a charter member of the Mead Baptist Church in Mead, Oklahoma. Ila loved to cook and was a cook for the hospital in Friona for many years. She loved to read, walk, and was a big Cubs fan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers-Bill and Millard Smith and 1 sister-Kathrine Layton.

Survivors include 2 sons-James Burchett of Friona, and Edward Burchett and Teresa Hernandez of Brownwood, 1 daughter-Mary Ford and husband Kenny of Friona, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren
