Viewing for Irene Peña Ramón will be from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina with Rosary Services set for 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Services  have been scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at St. Ann's Catholic Church of Bovina with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Our Beloved Mother

"Two things that never leave you, the eye of God and the love of a mother."

Our mother, Irene Peña Ramón was born 83 years ago on April 15 in Pearsall, Texas to Manuel and Juanita Trevino Peña.  Little did we know this amazing woman would be the one God chose to be our mother and our guardian angel.  We did not know it yet, but at that moment, we were truly blessed and the luckiest kids in the world.

Mom passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on January 20th, 2022.  She had been a long time resident of Bovina, Texas.  The family has lived in Bovina for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Jesse Ramón and Anthony Ramón, her parents Manuel and Juanita Peña, and her two sisters Gloria Rodriguez and Linda Peña.

Mother married the love of her life, our dad, Catarino Ramón on June 26th, almost seven decades ago.  Dad always said she was the love of his life and was the luckiest man in the world to have such a wonderful wife to go through life with.  She truly was a supportive, amazing wife.  Dad was such a fortunate man to have such a loving wife.

Our parents had six children, four boys and two girls.  Mom, feeling blessed, named her four sons after biblical names.  She would often say the good Lord blessed her immensely throughout her life, but her greatest blessing were her children.  She was a woman of great faith and her faith throughout her life never wavered.

When Mom became a grandma, she was the happiest grandma in the world.  Her grandbabies melted her heart and had her wrapped around their pinkies.  She loved them all and was so proud of each and everyone of them.

Mom had such an entrepreneurial spirit as we were growing up, starting when we were just babies.  She was self employed owning a couple of small businesses in her younger years.  She was an independent woman who enjoyed being her own boss when it came to business.  Our dad was always supportive and proud that she was able to flourish as a working woman, all while raising a family of six kids and also helping him with his work and self employment venture.

Mom was a hardworking woman and also raised us to be hardworking, honest, trustworthy, and taught us the value of a dollar.  She was one of the smartest women we ever knew sharing with us every bit of financial and business knowledge she attained throughout her life.  She was knowledgeable, intelligent, savvy, and took care of business.

Mother was unlike any other, was such a special person, and the best mom in the world.  She was ALWAYS a mother first and everything else came second.  She always put her kids first no matter what.  She was so proud of all of us and made us what we are today.  She was always proud of our accomplishments, all that we did, and always encouraged us to do even better than the last time.  She was our biggest supporter and our loudest cheerleader.  She was such an important, powerful influence in our lives and the driving force in wanting us to succeed as individuals.  She not only gave birth to us, but from day one, she was our protector and nurtured us along the way.  She taught us right from wrong, picked us up when we were down, hugged us, held us, wiped away our tears when we were hurting, and always fought for us like a lioness.  And by all means, she was also a strict and stern disciplinarian ruling with a firm hand, but with a tender heart.  But no matter what, we were loved unconditionally.

We are so proud of our mom and will forever be grateful that she was the mom she was and that God blessed our lives with such a wonderful, loving woman.  For us, there will never be another mom like ours, nor a better mom than ours.  She was and is the epitome of what a mom should be.

Mom, it is with great pain and sadness in our hearts and with tears in our eyes that we have to say goodbye and let you go for now.  But our faith tells us that we will all see each other again.  Even though we will not be able to see you, we know you will still continue to walk beside us like you have before, you will continue to pray for us like you did everyday of your life, and you will continue to be with us lighting our path and guiding us as we continue our journey through life.  For now, we, your children, along with all your grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren will carry on your legacy and continue to make you proud.

Mama, thank you for the wonderful life and upbringing both you and Dad gave us, and especially for being the greatest madre in the world.  You have been a book full of wisdom and we will cherish every word you ever said to us, every piece of advice you ever gave.  You truly were the wind beneath our wings, and, most importantly, the love of our lives.  We will never forget what you always said about your six kids, "Mis hijos son todo mi tesoro y todo mi querer."  You loved us with all your heart all our lives and we know that will never change.  Your love is never ending.  And Mom, don't worry about your family, we will look out for each other.
