James W. Cunningham, 94 of Friona died Thursday October 30, 2014 in Friona. Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday November 3, 2014 at the Friona United Methodist Church with Rev. John Woody and Jenny O'Pry, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Cunningham was born September 29, 1920 in Muleshoe, Texas to James Edgar and Susie Pelton Cunningham. He married Vernell Hogue February 11, 1943. He was owner of Cunningham Electric in Friona for many years. He was a very active member in the Friona United Methodist Church serving in many positions including usher. He loved to drive old tractors in the Friona Maize Days parade, woodworking, gardening and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife Vernell of Friona, 2 sons-Dale Cunningham and wife Letha of Cushing, Texas, and Joe Cunningham and wife Cheryl of Friona, 1 daughter- Janice Jones of Twin Oaks, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
