Obituary

Jesse Wayne Cobb passed away peacefully in Kirkland, Washington on July 24, 2023. Inurnment Graveside Services will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Jesse born June 5, 1934, in Clovis New Mexico to Thomas (Giles) Cobb and Opal Cobb. Jay, as he was fondly called, graduated from Friona High School in 1952, where he played various sports, was voted High School Favorite, and was an accomplished bull rider. He enlisted in the US Navy after High School. Stationed in Bremerton, WA he fought alongside the Second Infantry Division in the Korean War until his service fulfillment and honorable discharge. In 1957 Jesse began working for Boeing in Seattle, Washington where he met and married Sharon Beadle in 1958. Jesse was transferred to Huntsville, Alabama and later New Orleans Louisiana to work for NASA and Boeing in the Engineering Department on the Saturn 5, Apollo Space Program. After his divorce while working in New Orleans, Jesse met and married Ann Capel in 1966 and moved back to Seattle in 1968. Jesse left Boeing after 1969 and began commercial fishing in Alaska and Washington in 1970. He continued commercial fishing until the early 90's as co-owner and captain of multiple fishing vessels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas (Giles) and Opal Cobb, siblings, Ann Barker, Nancy Williams, Tom Cobb, Bill Cobb and David Cobb. Nephew Jimmy Don, and Nieces Sharon (Susy) Hamilton, and Brenda Nobles.

He is survived by son Giles (Lisa) Cobb of Port Angeles, Washington and daughter Amanda (Eddie) Riviera of Snohomish, Washington. Grandchildren Ayla (Dane) Kosel of Bermuda, Skyler and Chase Cobb of Port Angeles, Washington. Sister, Patsy Greer of Amarillo, Texas. Nephews; John Barker of Sonora, Texas, Eddie Barker of Cooksville, Texas, David Morris of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bobby Peters, New Castle, Colorado. Nieces; Pat Blackburn of Friona, Texas, Vicky Williams of Rockville, New York, Lynn Francis of Amarillo, Texas and LaNeta Jones of Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, as well as numerous great nephews and nieces.
