Jim Varner, 84 of Hereford passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Memorial Celebration of Life Services have been scheduled for 10:00AM, Saturday December 14, 2024 at the Union Congregational Church in Friona with Pastor Ken Varner, officiating. Jim was born June 29, 1940 in Cuthand, Texas to James Russell and Stella Joan Mauldin Varner. He married Mary Melinde Dean on November 2, 1962 in Friona. They met at an area roller skating rink.  He spent 20 years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era.  Jim was a very hard worker providing for his family, but also loved to spend time enjoying each one of them. His patient and kind spirit will be missed.

Those preceding him in death include his parents- James and Stella Varner, 2 sisters-Martha Shepherd and Gail Trevison, 2 brothers-Stanley Ray Varner and Phillip Varner, and 1 granddaughter-Danielle Sunderlin.

Those to mourn his passings include his wife Lindy Varner of Hereford, 1 daughter-Gaylene Varner Young and husband Greg of Glendale, AZ., 2 grandsons-Jeffery James Sunderlin and Justin O'Neil.
