Joe Benito Hernandez Sr. 78 of Friona died Sunday December 1, 2013. Prayer Services have been scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Monday December 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Friona with Funeral Services scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 3, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Friona with Rev. Rafael Marin, of Friona, and Pastor Robert Cuellar of San Angelo officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Hernandez was born July 14, 1935 in Lampasas, Texas to Marcelo and Melitona Aguirre Hernandez. He married Maria Garcia March 19, 1955 in Petersburg. He was a former employee with the City of Friona, a very active member and deacon of Templo Bautista Church in Friona. God and family were of utmost importance to Joe as he was a spiritual mentor to many. Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sons, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include his wife- Maria Hernandez of Friona, 1 son-Jesse Hernandez of Friona, 4 daughters-Sylvia Carrasco of Amarillo, Susie Hernandez of Alba, Sandra Hernandez of Austin and Sally Cox of Friona. 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren
