Jose Luis Mario Lopez Sr. 65, of Canyon, Texas, formerly of Bovina passed away February 10, 2024 in Amarillo. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with Rosary Services at 4:00 PM Thursday February 15, 2024 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial Services scheduled for 10:00AM Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. Ann's Catholic Church 605 38th St. in Canyon with Father Scott L. Raef as Celebrant. Burial at approximately 12:15 PM in the Bovina Cemetery in Bovina under the direction of  HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Jose was born May 27, 1958 in El Salvador to Lazaro and Maria G. Perez Lopez. He finished 12 years of school in El Salvador then he studied in France. After moving to the United States he joined the US Navy in 1995. After leaving the US Navy in 2003, he then began work as an electrical contractor. Jose was always busy and on the move working, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Lazaro and Maria brother-Martin Lopez, sisters-Ernestina Esparza, Corina Lopez, Bertha Uriegas.

Those to mourn his passings include his wife Luisa Lopez of Canyon, son-Jose Lopez, Jr. of Lubbock, daughters- Gaudencia Simonne Renee of Nantes, France, LeAnne Lopez of Lubbock, Stephine Candanedo and Christine Trejo, both of Amarillo, and Dania Lopez de Rosales of Katy, sisters-Mirta Lopez and Gloria Lopez Rodriguez, both of Lubbock, Anna Emilia Lopez of Indiana, and Maria Irene Lopez Serpas of El Salvador, along with 13 grandchildren.

Th ere will be a meal provided by St. Ann's Catholic Church- Canyon after the burial at:  The Catholic Student Center 2610 4th Ave Canyon Texas
