Lauretta Brookfield, 92, of Friona passed away Friday, August 17, 2012 in Friona. Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Friona Cemetery at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Kurt Borden officiating. Family visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona. Lauretta was born in Chaney, Oklahoma to Pearl and Ethel Griffith on January 30, 1920. She graduated from Friona High School. She has been a resident of Friona since 1928. She married Floyd C. Brookfield on December 23, 1939 in Clovis, N.M. She was a member of Friona Methodist Church, Charter member of Friona Rebecca Lodge #308 and Cub Scout Den Mother. She worked for Allen's Jewelry Store in Friona for several years during the holidays. She enjoyed sewing and was known for her chocolate cake, but most of all she was a wife and mother. She is survived by her two children; Ron Brookfield of Moore, Texas and Joan Gail Brookfield of Richardson; two grandchildren; Shannon M. Brookfield of Round Rock and Ryan P. Brookfield of Houston. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd C. Brookfield and 8 older siblings.
