Linda Smith, 69 of Friona passed away February 18, 2021 in Amarillo. Viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Monday, February 22, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Friona with Rev. Brett Hoyle, officiating. Cremation to follow by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Linda was born July 7, 1951 in Billings, Montana to Garnet and Dorothy Grove Walton. She later married Melvin Smith September 25, 1979 in Plainview.

Linda was a retired elementary school teacher who taught in Floydada, Hereford and Friona. After her retirement from teaching she delivered the Amarillo Globe News for several years, and was a family assistant at the funeral home. But, was mainly known to others as The Cookie Lady because of her delicious cookies, cakes and other baked goods.
She was an humble Christian servant and a member of the First Baptist Church of Friona where she served in many ways including as a children's Sunday School teacher. She also was a very active volunteer for the Friona Snack Pak 4 Kids program.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, and by one son-Jonathan Smith.

Those to carry on her legacy include her husband of Friona, 2 sons-Jason Colston and Jeff Smith of Friona, 1 daughter-Karen James and husband Ben of Abilene, 1 sister-Sandy Reeves and husband Shiloh of Stage Coach, Nevada, 1 granddaughter-Embree James, 2 nephews, and extended family- Jeff, Heather, Reese, and Cade Stowers of Friona.
