Raymond Rocha Jr. passed away on February 9, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday February 12, 2025 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Celebration of Life Graveside Services set for 10:30 AM Thursday February 13, 2025 in the Bovina Cemetery in Bovina. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Raymond was born on February 16, 1945 in Knox City, Texas to Ramon Sr and Juanita Morales Rocha. Raymond attended school in Knox City, he only attended grades 1st through 4th, he always said "When I was supposed to start 4th grade I walked in the doors, turned around, and walked right back out." Instead of attending school, he chose to work alongside his father Ramon and other family members as a migrant worker. He spent his childhood learning the true meaning of hard work.

Raymond met Lucilla (Lucy) Martinez in Altus, Oklahoma when he was 13 and she was 12. Raymond loved to tell everyone that he would point at Lucy, saying he was going to marry that pretty girl someday. Raymond and Lucy were Married on June 27, 1962 at the ages of 18 and 17. Together they had 6 children. They moved to Bovina in the early 1970's.

Raymond spent his time watching TV, taking naps, eating chicharrones, and going to work. He was a fan of baseball and football, he enjoyed fishing, and finding little things to do around the house. Raymond truly enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Most of all, his favorite thing to do was spend time with Lucy. Wherever he went she was right there with him. They loved drinking their coffee together in the mornings, sitting on their porch listening to the radio and watching cars drive by, going on drives around town, getting Dairy Queen ice cream, and doing their "Word Seek and Find Books" (word search). Lucy was and forever will be the love of his life.

Raymond will always be remembered for being a hard worker, his kindness, and his sense of humor. Raymond's family will remember him by the things mentioned above as well as his stubbornness, his love for chicharrones and any kind of nuts he can get his hands on, his love for them, and especially his love for Lucy.

Raymond is proceeded in death by his wife Lucy of 61 years, 2 sons Raymond and Larry, his parents- Ramon Sr. and Juanita Rocha, 2 sisters- Delores Stickney and Linda Ruiz, his nephew Simon Paredes, along with many other family members and friends.

Raymond is survived by his son Jerry Rocha (Araceli Manquero) Lubbock, 3 daughters-Rebecca Johnson (Palladin Sanders), Mona Contreras, and Sarah Hernandez (Rudy Hernandez). 13 grandchildren- Cliff Johnson, Scotty Johnson (Allen Wiskera), Juan Contreras (Raquel Contreras), Angelica Perez (Adam Perez), Holly Pippin, Becca Rocha (Warren Gray), Emilia Contreras, Troy Johnson, Heather Advent (Scott Advent), Andres Hernandez, Ashley Howard (Devon Howard), Yadier Hernandez, and Noah Rocha. 19 great grandchildren. His sister Patricia Lay and husband Bill of Altus, OK., sister Jenny McClendon of Oklahoma City, OK., brother John Rocha and wife Nancy of Springfield, MO., sister Yolanda Cooper and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, OK., and brother Manuel Rocha of Martha, OK.
