Refugio M. Guevara, lovingly known as "Cuco", 85 of Bovina, Texas passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 in Friona surrounded by loved ones. Viewing will be held Monday June 26, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina with Rosary Services at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Refugio was born October 27th, 1937 at Gorriones, Asientos, Aguascalientes, to Felipe and Epigmenia M. Guevara.  In 1965 he moved his family to Earth where he lived until 1967 when he and his wife Maria moved to Bovina.

Through his experiences of working in agriculture and carpentry, Refugio developed the skills to facilitate the construction of Missouri Packers, known today as Cargill.  After the completion of the plant he joined the company where he held multiple positions and retired in 2000 after 30 years of service.   Refugio and Maria married 1961 in the Parish of Nuestra Señora y Reina de Loreto in Loreto, Zacatecas. He valued family. Refugio encouraged his children to always do more, to do better by instilling the importance of education.  He was a man of great faith and had a charitable heart.   He has been a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church since 1968 and enjoyed actively participating in the annual jamaica.  He was adventurous, loved to travel, and enjoyed participating in projects with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Those to mourn his passing include his wife-Maria Guevara of Bovina,  9 children- Gabriel Guevara of Canyon and wife Belen, Sylvia Bermea of Lubbock and husband Rudy, Javier Guevara of Hereford and wife Sylvia, George Guevara of San Antonio and wife Carmen, Juana Terrones of Bovina and husband Vicente Jr., Robert of San Antonio and wife Noelia, Hector Guevara of San Angelo and wife Lisa, Lety of San Antonio, and Maricela of Fort Worth. 29 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.

La velación se llevará a cabo el lunes 26 de junio de 2023 a partir de las 10:00 a. m. en la iglesia católica de St. Ann en Bovina con los servicios del rosario a las 6:30 p. m. Refugio nació el 27 de octubre de 1937 en Gorriones, Asientos, Aguascalientes, hijo de Felipe y Epigmenia M. Guevara. En 1965 se mudó con su familia a Earth donde vivió hasta 1967 cuando él y su esposa María se mudaron a Bovina.

Ha sido miembro de la Iglesia Católica de St. Ann desde 1968 y disfrutó participando activamente en la jamaica anual. Era aventurero, le encantaba viajar y disfrutaba participar en proyectos con familiares y amigos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, 2 hermanos y 1 hermana
