Ruben G. Chavez, Sr. 62 of Bovina passed away July 23, 2020 in Clovis. Viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Rosary Services at 6:00P.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY. Mass of Christian Burial Services are set for 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at St. Ann's Catholic Church of Bovina with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Ruben was born May 7, 1958 in Mexico to Accadio and Maria Paula Gonzalez Chavez. He later married Rosa Maria Chavez October 29, 1983 in Mexico.
Ruben was an area farmer for many years, and was a great handyman. He loved garage sales and rarely missed one. Ruben was known for helping people and making them laugh, and his stylish Fedora hats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 sister-Emilia Chavez.
Those to carry on his legacy include 2 sons-Ruben Chavez, Jr. and wife Cynthia of Clovis, and Juan Angel Chavez and wife Monica of Hereford, 2 daughters-Estella Chavez Uvalli and husband Marcos of Clovis, Maria Paula Chavez and husband Bobby of Stillwater, OK, 1 brother Arcadio Chavez and wife Rosy of Kennewick, Washington, 5 sisters-Ofelia Contreras of Willmington, CA., Guillermina Panduro and husband Victor of Fontana, CA., Hilda Chavez and Pina Chavez of Mexico and Teresa Chavez of Spokane, Washington, 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
