Obituary

Thomas Audry "T.A." Kelley, 87, of Friona went to home to be with his Good Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 4:48 a.m. What a glorious homecoming we know it was! We know he was received with arms open wide by our Lord and Savior as he heard "Welcome Home, My good and faithful servant.". What a legacy of love he has left for us. He married his only sweetheart, Elva Ann Lewellen, April 7, 1946. Together they raised three daughters who love the Lord. All his life T.A. was doing something to bless and help others, especially during the 63 years that he owned and operated Kelley's Radiator Shop. He helped many travelers passing through that needed a repair or gas to get where they were going. At times he worked two jobs to provide for his family. He was truly the hardest working man we knew. He was born September 15, 1924 in Fisher County, Texas. He was an amazing husband, daddy, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy and loved by all who knew him. His sweet smile and precious blue eyes brought such joy to all around him. He was the kindest, most appreciative man in all areas of his life. Throughout his many illnesses, he became loved by all his nurses and caregivers and he loved them. His funny sense of humor and love of story telling has left us with such special memories. He loved his family dearly and we knew that we were the most important part of his life. His deep and abiding love for his wife is unsurpassed. She was always his first concern. He was told at an early age that due to Rheumatic Fever he wouldn't live to be 12 years old. God had different plans for him. He was so strong and survived many illnesses during his life but he always fought back. He was primarily self educated and he successfully owned his own business for many decades. He also enjoyed working for the surrounding counties as Road Maintenance Foremen for 12 years. He is survived by his wife Ann of 66 years, daughters, Audry Rowell and husband Vince of Canyon, Randie Hamilton and the late Charles Hamilton of Friona, and Tammi Lafuente and husband Harvey of Lubbock. One sister, Mert Hagar of Odessa, his precious grandchildren, Jason Rowell, Chad Hamilton, Kris Haffner, Cory Hamilton, and Addie Lafuente. And his sweet great-grandchildren, Shelby and Lindsay Rowell and Carson and Layton Haffner. We will forever miss his presence in our lives, but we know he is now completely restored and lives in the arms of Jesus. He fought the good fight and he finished the race strong and one day we will gather again with him at the River. 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Friona.
