Velma Schlenker, 93 of Friona died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in Friona. Graveside Services have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. October 29, 2016 at the Friona Cemetery in Friona with Rev. Brett Hoyle , pastor of the First Baptist Church in Friona, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Velma was born in Rhea, Texas to Herman and Emma Gallmeier Schueler. She graduated from Friona High School. She married Carl Reeve Schlenker December 14, 1946 in Rhea.

She member of several organizations including the Rhea Home and Demonstration Club, Lutheran Braille Workers in Lariat and the Lutheran Women's Mission League. She loved to sew, crochet and quilt and adored her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters-Dorothy Bauer and Lillian Schueler, 2 brothers-Gilbert Schueler and Walter Schueler, and 1 granddaughter-Holley Sims.

Survivors include- 2 sons: James Noel Schlenker and wife Yuruby of Heritage, Penn., and Ira Floyd Schlenker of Friona, 2 daughters: Connie Lynn Johnson and husband Joe Bob of Friona and Carleen Kay Sims and husband Jud of Lubbock, 1 brother: Herbert Schueler and wife Cecelia of Rhea, 1 sister-in-law: Martha Schueler of Farwell, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
